All Occasion Card 41a
Acquiring a dog may be the only opportunity a human ever has to choose a relative. Mordecai Siegal (1934-2010) Photo: Jim Dratfield/Paul Coughlin
Jim Dratfield was working as a waiter, hoping to become a famous photographer, when he shot these three gents. Now the dignified trio is well known: tens and tens and tens of thousands of the cards have been mailed. Jim and Petography have gotten their fame, too, with an ever-growing collection of dogs, cats, and horses of the famous, and of people next door.
Mordecai Siegal was a legend among pet fanciers. His books on training, health, and care are benchmarks.
Number 41 was one of our very first cards, and still is a best-seller. Why do you suppose that is?
